Swim for good
Our annual Swimsmooth BIG charity swim is back again for 2023. This year we are delighted to be able to support a charity relevant to our swimming, RNLI in Wicklow. Having raised over €10,000 for the organisation last year, we have our work cut out for us this year!
The BIG charity swim is about celebrating our swim community and supporting one another while completing either a 5km or 10km swim in the pool. The event will take place on Saturday 9th December in Killashee Pool, Naas, Co. Kildare. There will be a 5am and 7.15am start for the 5km. The 10km will start at 5am.

Bragging rights
Sign up to this event before 10th November 2023 to receive this attractive long sleeve sports top with 1/4 front zip, breathable mesh panels, moisture wicking fabric, rear zip pocket and reflective strip. Not only will you be snug after your winter squad sessions but it's perfect for run and cycle too.
What to expect
Starting before dawn, this swim challenge will give you bragging rights well into 2024 and a good story to tell the family over Christmas lunch. Take on this 5km distance with the help of your lane mates. Take turns in leading 100m repeats, with short rest intervals. Remember, pacing is key! The goal is to finish and raise much needed funds through sponsorship with your ambitious goal to swim 5km. Scoffing copious amounts of mince pies and bananas deck side, is all part of the fun!
There will also be a collaborative Spotify play list for the boom box deck side and glow sticks for our 'dark hour' when we challenge you to swim straight!
Do your bit
Once you have signed up to your chosen distance, it's time to shout it from the roof tops. Tell everyone on your social media channels that you are undertaking a swim challenge for charity so they can support you with sponsorship, all of which goes directly to RNLI Wicklow.
